Celia May 12, 2013 @ 11:36:15 thank you, seth. sethsnap May 12, 2013 @ 13:54:41 I’d love to see one like that down here in Southern Ohio. Celia May 12, 2013 @ 15:32:54 It was a privilege to see such a beautiful bird. They’re pretty small, and maybe they even frequent your area. . . . believe it or not, it’s easy to walk right by them without noticing because they are so still. sethsnap May 12, 2013 @ 21:26:21 We have some herons. I captured one from a distance awhile back. At first, I thought it was fake because it was so still. Celia May 13, 2013 @ 14:58:16 The still birds are the only ones I can manage to photograph! We are lucky to get many different herons at the Ponds near where I live. http://celiahercity.com/2012/10/22/admirable-creature/ Great to see your blog flourishing, by the way. I stopped in lately (the post with the guys on the roof) and was astonished at how it had grown. sethsnap May 13, 2013 @ 21:20:50 Thanks Celia. Harley May 12, 2013 @ 15:58:33 Check out that long and very sharp looking middle talon on that bird !…….A very, very interesting looking heron. Celia May 13, 2013 @ 14:53:07 You are on to something, Harley. In fact, this is one of the few other “tool-using” animals besides homo sapiens. According to what I read, the green heron is one that “fishes with bait,” using worms, insects, twigs, and other items to attract its prey. Interesting, no?
