In the Orchid House

The center of a hot-pink orchid is blood red, gold, and white.
There were tiny yellow and burgundy orchids.  Large orchids with tiny maroon spots stippling them.  Hot-pink orchids with purple velvet throats.  Pansy orchids with enormous limp blossoms bolted with lilac centers.  Pale yellow orchids with hot-pink veins.  And these lovelies, with buttery-edged white petals, blotted with various drops of mauve and maroon, and a blaze of gold in the center.

Now is the time to visit the Orchid House in the Lincoln Park Conservatory.  The spring flower show is on, offering a dazzling display of orchids and bromeliads in bloom.
