Yes, it is really amazing how many people wait on those “L” platforms and almost always there is hardly any communication between one and another.

So true, even though Chicago is a friendly city. But this aloofness helps account for why many Chicagoans are so outraged about the new el cars, which force all riders lucky enough to get a seat to face inward, toward the people across the aisle.
