Our usual market was closed because of the air show, so we ended up going to the market at a nearby high school. We got there rather late—it was nearly noon—but the timing worked out because the vendors were not too busy. There was still produce to buy, and opportunities to chat. I had had my heart set on getting some peaches to make a peach pie, so I came back well satisfied.
We got a few astonishingly ugly heirloom tomatoes, but that was good, too, because we’ve learned long ago that the ugliest are the best!
I love the colors of this picture—they sum up summer and how it feels.
