We city-dwellers are poachers of the worst kind, loving the countryside for its aesthetic qualities, for the sensory pleasures it can provide. We admire the bluish color of the beaten-up barn, as we rush to the farm stand for fresh asparagus or morels.
We pick and choose what we like, knowing in our heart of hearts that we could not long stand the countryside. Being condemned to live there permanently would be punishment indeed. Just think of the boredom, the dust, the miserable allergies! The fatal dearth of shopping also comes to mind.

Oh my—better stay in the city !!

Well, I spend a relatively great amount of time driving around the countryside–making me all the more conscious of being different from those who live and labor there full-time.

Oh yes, we love the country to get away, but to live there? Umm … what you said. 🙂
Celia says
Beauty found anywhere brings us peace–perhaps that’s why we venture to strange landscapes?
Peace to you all in Florida,
