Snow is part of our reality right now. Almost a foot is expected over the next 24 hours.
My attitude toward winter is one of acceptance. A weekend snow means a perfect excuse to stay at home and do nothing. The city grinds to a halt and falls strangely quiet. A snowstorm creates opportunities to read a book, listen to music, or chat a little longer on the phone than I normally would.
Besides, outside there is usually something beautiful to see, like these evergreens. They are easy to admire when going with the kids to the sledding hill, or when out on a tramp to stretch one’s legs.

I like a “snow day” from time to time as well. I stay close to home, don’t use the car, and try to cook a good meal…………..So far in Chicago the winter has been rather bumpy!………Nice pictures of the evergreens.

It’s been a more typical winter than the last few we’ve had. Seeing the snow brings back lots of memories of enjoying it as kids. I even get nostalgic about shoveling, if you can believe it!
