The banks of the Lincoln Park Lagoon are for fishermen, particularly the east side of the lagoon, along Lake Shore Drive, nearly inaccessible to the casual pedestrian. Which is just as well, because the grass is littered with the occasional dead fish. Step carefully.
The inconveniences of getting here leave the silent fishermen with a monopoly on this view, which can otherwise be enjoyed only fleetingly while motoring past on Lake Shore Drive. The souls of the fishermen may feed on this view, whether or not they come away with a thing to eat.
Even in November, as the weather turns frosty, Nature still has a few fishermen snagged.

Yup, when I drive past the lagoon, at times fisherman are there. Sometimes on a nice Saturday or Sunday many are fishing at the far south side of it. I also have noticed that some of them make a nice relaxing day of it: bring a picnic lunch and some family members as well.

It’s true–there is a whole subculture of urban fishermen (literally: I have seen very few women fishing in the city). These are the people appalled at the callous way the CPD went about “renovating” the South Pond, worrying that in the process virtually all of the pond’s existing fish and reptile population was killed off.
