By custom, there are areas in the parks where dogs can play. I never knew about this gathering place at Wrightwood and Lakeview near the Elks Memorial until I passed by around dusk one day.
It’s a sweet spot above the North Pond used mainly as a playing field, wedged between the play lot and the Hamilton statue.
There relaxation dwells, as evening settles over the weary city. A sense of sweet liberation emanates from the creatures in the park, liberated from the constraints of duty and toil.

I pass by that area often when taking the bus downtown and then back. It is fun to see the kids playing and the dogs.
