The beautiful old bridges spanning the River: Celia doesn’t notice them much, and neither does he. They are just the things we cross over, abstractedly. Yet without them we would be divorced from ourselves, stuck with just a part of all that we are.

A nice picture but I find it mostly sad. The man walking hunched over and the pictures of all the bridges taken on a doleful looking day.

Gee, I guess you could see it as a little gloomy, but that’s how it is, and I think the view of the River and bridges is pretty spectacular even when the weather is grey. I will try to publish something sunnier for you–I can tell you need it! Celia

I notice these bridges constantly. Interesting to have such a differing perspective on the matter… though I think you are merely saying you don’t always notice them, but you like what you see when you do.

Yes, I suppose a better title would be “Behold the Bridges.” Because I do like them very much and gaze at them when I go across. I’ve written other posts about them (http://celiahercity.com/2012/09/22/urban-beauty/). I may even have a painting somewhere with a Chicago river bridge in it. . . . so . . . . you’ve caught me out!
