The hat shop is closed.
Inside, the hats are still waiting to be purchased. They float, eerily suggesting the heads they are meant to fit. They cluster like moths against the glass waiting for the right men.

Wow, one does not see too many real “gentlemen’s” hat stores around much anymore. The hats look fancy.
Celia says
Optimo. Yes, it’s a wonderful looking store; I think a New York import. The hat displays are austere verging on spooky. I’m sure the goods are expensive–worth it, perhaps.

What an interesting angle. Can you tell us how you shot that photograph?
Celia says
I took the picture from an interior lobby of the building and exaggerated the angle of vision in Photoshop–I wanted to bring out the surreal quality of the hats against the glass, and make the interior objects in the store less distracting.
Sunny SBO says
These hats are coming back into fashion. I see women wearing them, having picked them up at thrift shops.
Celia says
Interesting; I would be delighted if we all returned to hat-wearing in a big way. I love looking at photos from the 1940s-50s where every single person is wearing one.
